Children's Rehabilitation Centre - Welcome
Through the development of this website it is my hope to preserve the history of the Sunshine Camp and the early years of the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre. I fear we are loosing valuable information, stories, culture,
as people who were involved in both facilities pass away, memories fade, people move away from the province, documents and/or pictures become lost or discarded and many more reasons.
If you were a patient, staff member, volunteer, board member, fund raiser, entertainer, or in any other manner involved with the Sunshine Camp (1952-1963) or the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre (1964-1982)
I am really interested in your stories and pictures.
The stories I am looking for would capture the cultural, spirit, and history of both facilities. Maybe it’s something you remember about a certain staff member, community events, visitors to the Camp or Centre, certain patients, going to school, teaching at the school, going to physio, foods, volunteer activities, and on. Stories that could potentially embarrass or present a negative view of staff, patients, volunteers and anyone else involved with the Camp or the Centre will not be entertained
I have a number of pictures of patients and staff of the Sunshine Camp and the Rehabilitation Centre and some of these have been posted and more will be posted to the web site in the coming month. Some people are easily recognizable while others are not at least not by me. If you recognize someone or know anything about the picture please let me know so this information can be included with the pictures. If you recognize yourself in any of these pictures and are not comfortable with having the picture on the web site it will be removed at your request. If you have pictures to share please send them along either electronically or by mail. I will scan and return all pictures to you immediately.
Well that’s about it for now, look forward to hearing from you.
